Heres a question if anyone has any insight. My kodi be up for 6 hours
I go to play 4k hdr file around 30gb and it skipps and stutters and lags along with navigating kodi menu.
Summary info sais 200 or so mb and memory used percentage down bottom around 91
I close kodi and restart now while streaming the same file its smooth and perfect and free memory is about 530 with memory used at 80.
How and why does this happen and is there any resolve other than restarting kodi??

Any Windows device with at least 8GB of RAM should run Kodi fine, cant comment on any particular Mini Pcs cause I dont have any. A mini Keyboard and mouse combo works well either bluetooth or usb receiver. Voice search in Kodi relies on microphone permissions, which are managed through the device's system settings rather than within Kodi itself. On Nvidia Shield devices, users must enable microphone access for the Kodi app by navigating to Settings > Apps > Kodi > Permissions and selecting "Allow while using app" for microphone access.
This step is essential, as the feature may not function even if the remote's microphone button is pressed if permissions are not granted.

Well first of all, you said yourself that you turned on caching settings to buffer all filesystems, which means you are making it use more ram right there. So delete any advanced settings and go to Kodi settings/services caching and set that to defaults also. Then try rebooting Kodi and check the levels again. I agree that 92% seems a bit high. And also But just as a test, I completely deleted the build and all data and checked the free ram in system information in Kodi with absolutely nothing installed, and guess what, the ram usage is still 64% on my Shield, and thats with nothing installed. You gotta remember, the Shield is good, but it still only has 3GB of ram at the end of the day. Another thing to consider when your looking at Kodi System information is this value is not just for Kodi, it is showing the memory usage for everything installed on your Shield.. "The "System memory usage" value displayed in Kodi's System Information section reflects the total memory usage of the entire system, not just Kodi itself.
This metric shows the combined memory consumption by all running processes on the device, including the operating system and other applications, not solely Kodi."

Im guessing theres something else running on your Shield also that is eating your free ram. I so far have not seen this issue on my Shield. I also never touch advanced settings. I would try deleting some of those dodgy apps you might have installed on your shield and see whats causing the high memory usage. You can see in this pic, more ram is obviously better..

That free memory is incredible, is that from your shield by any chance? If yes how did you get it to be that high?

I do have external storage attached to my shield which is a 1TB Samsung SSD. I also have a number of apps like Cinema HD, an IP*V app, NordVPN etc.

I did not know until I read your posts that they contribute to the RAM usage that I see on Kodi.

I am confused as to how having an external storage on Shield is a negative as it has been documented that since the storage capacity is not the greatest, it is better to have an external storage device on it, which is what I did.

The pic is not from my Shield, thats from my Windows PC with 64GB of ram. Theres nothing wrong with using an external hard drive for extra storage, but that does nothing for your free ram. Just have to be sure if your using a hard drive, its formatted as internal storage, and make sure its a fast Solid State drive, otherwise it will slow down apps like Kodi if they are running from a slow hard drive.

Ok so ive been experimenting with this
I wish i could put memory size and read factor in caching all the way up because it makes everything super fast but it does not last and within 5 min or less kodi crashes. So ive been bringing down the numbers each notch to see kodi stream behavior and seem to found smooth stream with good buffer and no crash

This is the SSD card that is attached to my shield as external storage though I do not know if it is fast or not though when I did add it originally it said something about it being slow.

Though that might be due to the fact that it is 3.2 UsB while Nvidia shield's USB port is 3.1
