Im guessing you probably got fooled by a website that gives information about Kodi stuff like Troypoint. These websites are affiliates and make money to advertise VPNs. They make a profit when people buy VPNs. The other reasons could be legit like to get around Geo-restricted addons that only work in some countries. Another reason is some internet providers block some websites that Kodi addons use like Daddylive, so a VPN might work for that. And like I said before if you use a torrent addon like Elementum, you would need a VPN, but if you have Debrid, there is no need for a VPN.

Vpn is good for, when your internet company blocks your access to some of this stuff. In my case, daddylive, i would click on daddylive and it would bring up the main menu, 'live sports, live channels, search channels...', but when i would click on any of them, an error would come up.

With a vpn running, it brings up daddylive fine.
